It’s been asked by quite a few of our clients if they should be buying a house during covid or wait. The answer is entirely personal preference, but we’ve put together some details to help you make the best decision for you.
Mortgage purchase applications are up almost 10% this month over last January. While COVID does present a number of challenges – with safety measures established by the National Association of Realtors and common sense, there are many ways to mitigate those challenges:
- Scheduled showings so that not too many people are present
- Masks
- Reduction of touching light switch plates, door knobs, etc.
- Hand sanitizer after each showing
- and more
These are all ways to reduce exposure.
There are also virtual tours online for pretty much every house on the market. These are very popular for our out of town clients, as well.
At almost every aspect of the real estate transaction from your offer to purchase (the lender, title company, etc), digital signatures are easier than ever. There are a few forms that will require a live signature by your title company, but those are easily done by a mobile notary provided by them at a small fee.
There are definitely COVID protocols set in place to help protect you. Given the amazing opportunity to purchase real estate at record low interest rates, now is definitely an optimal time to invest and to buy a house safely.
